Aqoul has a good take on the Sudan Mohammed-teddy story, looking at the wider political background driving the apparent (and indeed, actual) lunacy.

Commenter Abu Sinan has an even better point, that I’d vaguely wondered about before but not explored because I’d assumed I was just being ignorant about Islam:

Some Muslims “veneration” for the Prophet Mohammed is way over the top. They almost worship him in the manner that Christians worship Jesus. Mohammed is not God, but from the way some Muslims act about him, you’d be hard pressed to know it.

I had asked before what would have happened if a bear was named Issa or Musa, would the idiots have had an issue then? Seeing that the “Muslim” bear in the link is named “Adam”, the first Prophet, then it seems, once against Mohammed is being held to a higher standard than other Prophets.

The way they treat Mohammed borders on shirk [idolatry/heresy], not to mention it makes them look like eejits.

Ditto the cartoon scandal. The only positions you can take under which it’s blasphemous to draw cartoons of Mohammed are that either it’s blasphemous to draw cartoons of anyone made by your god, or that Mohammed is your god. So assuming you’re not a shirker [lolz], you’re stuck with either jihad against all comics ever, or a nice cup of shut-the-fuck-up.

I guess it’s not that surprising that head-chopping self-exploding nutjobs know even less about their own religion than sarcastic atheist cunts on the Internet, but still…

Mo’toons redux

I seem to recall, about 18 months ago, the “we’re libertarian, err, except when it comes to Muslims, who should probably all be sent home or killed or something” branch of blogland getting very excised about the reaction to some puerile cartoons of an old religious geezer.

“We live in a dhimmi state”, was the cry. “People who publish these cartoons get censored and harrassed, while the fanatics who protest about them get away with it.”

Now the judicial process has run its course, let’s see the final statistics: number of people prosecuted for disseminating said cartoons: 0; number of people jailed for several years for protesting about them: 4.

Mysteriously, the dhimmibollocks brigade has been silent about this. It’s almost as if it didn’t fit their paranoid conspiracist agenda…

Also, re sailors: as long as they aren’t being tortured, which they aren’t, and will be released as soon as our government has made some concessions (broadly, easing up in the whole ‘demonising them and opposing their understandable attempt to defend themselves from Israel’s nukes’ business), which they will, bothered.

Some McDonald’s restaurants in Australia have started using halal meat in their burgers. This is sensible: it tastes the same as normal meat, and it means that everyone (apart from orthodox Jews, who are banned from eating cheeseburgers anyway….) can eat it.

Amazingly, there are mad cunts out there who actually disapprove of this. “Just as a Muslim would not want to eat anything that isn’t halal . . . I should have my rights to eat normal, ordinary food that hasn’t been blessed,” says gibbering mentalist and stupid cunt Miriam McLennan. Hopefully, she (along with everyone who shares her outlook on life) will be gang-raped and cut into small pieces by drug-crazed Islamists.

Meanwhile in the UK, a similar pathetic storm in a teacup has been cooked up by crazy white bigots. A school with a 20% Muslim intake decided to serve halal chicken as its Christmas dinner so that everyone could eat the same food at the same time – which is again the obvious and sane thing to do and which could only be objected to by gibbering mentalists. Unfortunately, the gibbering mentalists whined so much that the school had to abandon the plans…

What the fuck is wrong with these bastards? I’m obviously not a Muslim; I’m happy to get blind drunk and eat a halal kebab or chickenburger, because I don’t give a flying fuck about the religious incantations that it has or hasn’t been blessed with. Christianity explicitly abolishes all dietary restrictions for its adherents [*], so if you are of Christian extraction and you refuse to eat halal meat when you’d be willing to eat the same animal killed non-halal-ishly, you have no religious or moral excuse – you are just a mad bigot. And should be killed, preferably halal-style.

Sadly, neither Melanie Phillips nor the zombie corpses of Pim Fortujn and Oriana Fallaci have joined in – presumably this is just an oversight.

Anyway. The film is yer average load of rubbish (the usual wingnut thesis of “it’s inherent in Islam and in all Muslims to kill everyone who isn’t one”) and thus barely worth commenting on. But I was amused to note that it’s produced by a company called Quixotic Media. Well, out of your own mouths…
