Fair, proportionate, etc.

Some terrorists capture one single foreign soldier. That soldier’s country responds by invading and killing everyone in sight in the vague hope of retrieving him. They bomb the fuck out of bridges and power stations, presumably just in case he’s being hidden there. What does this say about the character of the people running the soldier’s country?

In some ways, it’s sad that the Palestinians have agreed to tolerate Israel’s existence

A bit less assymmetrical

In a pleasant change from being shot with American-made artillery shells while only having sticks and stones to defend themselves, the Palestinians have (at least, so they claim) developed chemical and biological weapons.

I’d recommend a focus on poison gas, if only because it would provoke the funniest reactions on LGF. My tenner’s on “It’s a new Holocaust and the Palis are the new Nazis, therefore we need to fight a new WWII until they’re all dead like Hitler”.

Update: “jihad-genocide” just on the news of the threat. We have a winner…

Wafa Sultan is an ignorant moron

Right-wing pro-Zionists tend to apply the epiphet “self-hating Jew” to anyone of Jewish extraction who doesn’t believe Israel has the right to do whatever the fuck it wants to whoever the fuck it wants.

Purely because of this unpleasant heritage, I’m not going to refer to Arab-American writer Wafa Sultan as a “self-hating Arab”, despite the fact that in her case it would be true. The rant is amazing – like LGF, but by someone from an Arab background. In many ways, she’s a credit to America’s indoctrination system. Although her knowledge of the history of inter-community violence is a little limited:

We have not seen a single Jew destroy a church. We have not seen a single Jew protest by killing people. The Muslims have turned three Buddha statues into rubble. We have not seen a single Buddhist burn down a Mosque, kill a Muslim, or burn down an embassy

Some Jews destroy a church. A Jew protests by killing people. Some Buddhists burn down a mosque. Some Buddhists kill some Muslims. OK, I’ll grant her the embassy one.

Israel shows its commitment to the peace process

They’ve arrested the PA’s Minister for Jerusalem for having the wrong papers. Fucking top quality, arseholes. Do Hamas have an online donation form?

If you criticise a Jew, you’re a Nazi

Yup, it’s more Ken-related lunacy from the self-proclaimed Jewish Conspiracy Community.

Ken suggested that a pair of Iraqi property developers who’re making trouble over London Olympic construction projects might want to “go back and see if they can do better under the ayatollahs”. Perhaps not a great way of getting them on-side, and at a pinch offensive against immigrants in general.

However, these particular Iraqis happen to be Jewish – so according to assembly member Brian Coleman, “This is the latest anti-Semitic remark by Livingstone, he clearly has a major problem with the Jewish business community”. No, you clearly have a major problem with reality, you dick.

You hyp and you crit and you don’t stop

According to Lori Marcus in an Israel National News article,

Have we not yet learned that when Muslims cry “offensive,” it may have little (or nothing) to do with religious principles, but is instead one of the tools in their arsenal for geographic or psychological extortion?

Have we not yet learned that when Jews slag off the Muslims, it may have little (or nothing) to do with religious principles, but is instead one of the tools in their arsenal for geographic or psychological extortion? No, obviously we haven’t, because we’re sane enough to realise the difference between lunatics like Lori Marcus and Jews-in-general. Go figure.

Similarly, Shalom Lappin (writing at Normblog) is also an idiot:

The current defence of [Ken Livingstone's] insult as legitimate if offensive political expression indicates a general refusal to take seriously the deeply racist nature of his political strategy. He systematically provokes Jews in order to curry favour with a variety of political and religious constituencies. Interestingly, he incurs no serious political damage for this policy.

No, he provokes gibbering Zionist lunatics. A sizeable proportion of London’s Jews agree with Ken’s Middle East policy and have no problems with his Standard-baiting.

Why do idiots like Ms Marcus and Mr Lappin feel they have the right to speak for all Jews? It’s like when Nick Griffin claims he’s speaking for all English people – except that absolutely no-one takes Mr Griffin seriously…

D’you Ken?

I don’t really have anything to say about the demented end to the Ken-Evening Standard debacle. Well, not anything that won’t incite ludicrous cunts to try and ruin my life, just as they’ve tried to ruin his.

(for those of you who don’t understand the last paragraph, move along, there’s nothing to see here).

At a time when anti-semitism is on the rise, tolerating Holocaust denial is like allowing a man to shout fire in a crowded theatre” – David Cesarani

Hmm. There’s no evidence that antisemitism is on the rise; this has become a right-wing talking point despite its utter lack of support. Antisemitic incidents fell in the UK last year, even based on figures issued by a very paranoid organisation (and out of 455 ‘incidents’, over 300 featured people saying mean things or printing nasty leaflets. That’s fewer mean things than were said about Ian Blair over the same time period, never mind about the Scousers or the Muslims).

But the really annoying thing is the use of the “fire in a crowded theatre” metaphor. No, this is wrong: if you shout fire in a crowded theatre, you will start a stampede and people will die, but if you say that there was no Holocaust, you will not start a stampede and people will not die. You won’t even start a metaphorical stampede, as might be the case if you were to tell your audience to rise up and kill Jews.

The fire/theatre and kill-the-Jews statements are clearly in the same class. Statements like “there was no Holocaust” or “Mohammed was a nonce” are clearly in a different class. Anyone who uses the fire in a crowded theatre analogy to justify outlawing the latter class of statement is either stupid or dishonest, and should preferably be set on fire in a crowded theatre.

Those Iranian Holocaust cartoons

Danish paper Jyllands-Posten, being a right-wing tract that doesn’t actually care about free speech, reneged on its original offer to print the Holocaust cartoons published in Iran’s Hamshari newspaper. Pigdogfucker has no such qualms.

About half of the Iranian cartoons are Holocaust-denialist, and about half are saner works about Israel’s status as racist oppressor and occupier. They are all offensive, to differing degrees, and they are all rubbish. They’re arranged roughly in descending order of sanity over the fold.

More impressive and far funnier than the Iranian competition, though, is Boomka.org‘s take on the whole affair. It’s run by a pair of Jewish cartoonists who feel that Jews ought to be far better than these Gentile upstarts at antisemitic cartoonery. If you’re Jewish and fancy a bit of antisemitic scribbling, you’ve got until March 5 to enter. I especially like this one.

So, what about those rubbish Iranian cartoons, then? – Continue reading

Jonathan Lewis is a silly person

On Radio 4 this morning, Jonathan Lewis of the United Kingdom Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists said:

“Germany is the most democratic country in the world in that they have an office for the protection of their constitution which ruthlessly suppresses right-wing and Nazi speech”

Yes, it’s important to ruthlessly suppress right-wing speech in order to have a democracy. Twat.
