Sent home to die; sent home to not die. Boo and yay respectively, although that’s rather an understatement in both cases.
Still, at least we in the UK merely deport people to certain death instead of inflicting it ourselves [*]; I understand that some philosophical traditions hold the former is morally better, which obviously is a massive comfort.
(side note: is anyone here sufficiently stubborn that, if offered the option of probably being executed vs pleading ‘not quite guilty, but guilty enough not to sue’, taking time served and getting the fuck out of the hellhole they were in, they’d pick the former?)
