Fuck courtesy, you daft cunt

The anti-Blair demonstration at the north London Potemkin school the other day was hilarious. Lenin has a horse’s-mouth account, but effectively it involved sixth-formers defying politically-cowed teachers to deliver the same message to Blair that any sane person would want to deliver (i.e. “fuck off and die”).

Wingnutblogger Prodicus is an idiot, on the other hand:

I despise those who teach children to be rude to Prime Ministers – even this one – and who use them as cannon fodder. They should leave that to Hamas and Hezbollah.

Fuck that. Everyone should be rude to Prime Ministers; everyone should be rude to every cunt who tries to assert their authority over others. This particular PM deserves it more than others thanks to his erosion of civil liberties and his complicity in American and Israeli Ayrab-slaughtering, but that isn’t really the point. Nobody deserves respect merely for their title, and nobody should ever defer to anyone, ever. If you think otherwise, you’re a daft little reactionary poodle, and I will be there laughing in your face when the people to whom you kowtow defecate on your head from a great height.

Also, likening a harmless and amusing school protest to the use of children as soldiers and human bombs is the most offensive metaphor since I said “cunts like Prodicus should be sent to Poland and gassed in the showers”. Which was just now.

The Devil, wrongly, half-approves of Prodicus on this issue. But at least he has the decency to focus on Lenin’s communist leanings, rather than suggesting that Tony Blair deserves any respect of any kind whatsoever.

  1. DSD says:

    ‘Israeli Ayrab-slaughtering’.

Pesky Jews, they just wont bend over meekly and go off to the showers will they?
The inconsiderate bastards. How dare they actually fight back?

    Cunt.

  2. [...] Neither “in all seriousness” nor “the totalitarian left”: Finally, there are the downright vicious ones from people who, in all seriousness, say they would consign me, for instance, to the gas chambers. Now here’s a funny thing. They all come from the totalitarian left. Odd, that. (Not.) They don’t like it up ‘em, do they? I suppose it’s possible he’s had more than one gassing threat lately. Dozens, even. The fact that someone seeking to defend right-wing political thought from the Leftofascists and the Islamofascists faces such widespread intimidation is a clear indication of spiralling levels of antisemitism and holocaust denial. And it’s almost certainly the Muslims’ fault. Filed under Politicking   [link] [...]

  3. You do know that Robin Sivapalan – a teaching assistant – has now been suspended for his role in the protests, don’t you?

You can sign a petition in his support by e-mailing robin@free-education.org.uk

  4. Yeah and I’m sure you were right there for the BNP teachers who’ve been suspended and fired in the last few months, right there to defend the Civil Liberties of BNP members who arent allowed to join the Police or the Fire Brigade in the first place you fucking hypocrite. Drawing kids of that age into political protests is despicable and he deserves what he gets.

  5. PDF says:

I have defended various BNPites and other racist loons, like the lecturer in Leeds who got into trouble for thinking black people were inferior to whites. FWIW, I think BNP members should be allowed in the fire brigade (and as far as I’m aware they are); the situation re the police is more difficult since someone who hates niggers is unlikely to be in a position to make impartial judgements on how to resolve a situation.

  6. DSD, hypocrisy doesn’t come into it. Being a member of the BNP is incompatible with being a teacher at a school with any non-white or non-British pupils Not because they might use their position to proselytise their politics, but because it is perfectly reasonable to suggest that being a racist prevents a BNP member treating his pupils (or students) non-prejudicially.

  7. Well by that standard any Muslim employed at a school should be disqualified from teaching in case he is there with a Jewish pupil. After all by their own admission 30-40% of all Muslims think ‘Jewish targets’ in the UK are ‘legitimate’…so if you are trying to use personal beliefs as an inevitable link to future actions then surely you have to accept that this doesnt just apply to the BNP?

We’ll leave aside the question of whether the equation BNP Member = Racist for another is true or not for another day.

  8. I think that the equation of religious belief with membership of a political party is, while on the surface reasonable, at heart a silly argument deployed most often by people whose own political position appears to revolve around painting Muslims as Nazis, in order to legitimate discrimination and a foreign and domestic policy orientated around ‘the Muslim threat’.

Religion is largely not ‘chosen’. It might not be a genetic characteristic, but then neither is the language that we speak. Of course, a child born to two English speaking parents is pretty likely to speak English itself. If we construct, for the purposes of argument, a scale that runs from heritable characteristic to voluntaristic characteristic then language is down the heritable end, religion is a bit further down the voluntaristic end, but no where near as far down the extreme voluntaristic end as membership of a political party. This is simple empirically-based argument, derived from the proportion of people who share these characteristics with their parents; langauge – almost all, barring highly unusual life events, religion – many, though converts and loss of faith is not uncommon it is not the norm, membership of a political party – some, being a characteristic of which any cogent narrative and explanation places deep down the voluntaristic end of the spectrum of personal characteristics.

p.s. PDF, why does this text box project off the side of my visible screen, whether I am at work or home, leaving me typing my comments part blind?

Because my template sucks and I’m too lazy to mend it. Annoying, isn’t it?

  10. Oh, and I will say that this much lower degree of voluntarism in religious identity, which, like nationality and language it is a non-genetic but very highly heritable characteristic, as compared to membership of a political party, accounts, at least in part, for the much greater degree of variability in outlook within the group ‘Muslims’ than might be expected within the group ‘members of the BNP’. Each ‘member of the BNP’ has decided to join the BNP, most likely on the basis of its worldview. By contrast, the vast majority of the group ‘Muslims’ were born into a Muslim family and, barring quite a life-transforming event, will continue to identify as Muslim, despite the development of their worldview as they experience life.

  11. Very very pretty argument Andrew, but whether there is ‘voluntarism’ involved in being a Muslim or not, the fact remains that 30-40% of Muslims think Jews can be legitimately attacked and killed and yet you have no problem with Muslims teaching Jewish children. This is a damn sight better empirical evidence for possible discrimination than ‘all BNP members would discriminate because they are racists’.

So violent racist beliefs are OK as long as they are religious and not ‘political’? Pretty weak…

  12. pdf says:

dsd – I don’t believe that ‘fact’. Got a link, or did you make it up?

  13. Try every poll which has asked British Muslims what they think on this subject in the last year. But if you cant be bothered to check…

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,17129-2028033,00.html

    37%. Will that do?

  14. PDF says:

No. In the same poll, only 1 in 6 (16.7%, for the mathematically challenged) support suicide attacks against Israel, and 7% against the UK. Therefore, it’s extremely unlikely that many of the 37% are referring to situations where British Jews are “attacked and killed” – “confronted and told they’re wrong” is a better paraphrase.
